The TU16 Thermostat functions as a standard thermostat and can be controlled by UPB commands to set specific temperature setpoints and modes for the HVAC system. The leading-edge two part design of the TU16 consists of a TS16 Wall Display Unit and the HVAC Control Unit.

TS16 Wall Display Unit (WDU)
The TS16 provides a typical thermostat user interface with display of the current temperature, Setpoint or mode on a two digit Backlit LCD display. It has pushbuttons for Setpoint down, Setpoint up, mode and fan control. The TS16 has a digital temperature sensor and changes in temperature are sent to the TU16 Thermostat Control Unit along with any push button commands. The TS16 WDU also has connections for an Outside Temperature sensor and up to 2 Remote Indoor averaging sensors.
TU16 Thermostat Control Unit (TCU)
The TU16 TCU maintains temperature control for the TU16 Thermostat. It receives updates from the TS16 WDU of temperature changes and pushbutton command inputs. The TU16 TCU also has a UPB interface that allows it to receive commands from a remote UPB source. The TU16 can send/receive UPB commands.
The TU16 HVAC Control Unit controls standard gas/electric, 2- stage heat, 2- stage cool, or heat pump systems with 3- stage heat, 2- stage cool HVAC systems. It connects to the HVAC system via standard thermostat connections. It is also adaptable to hydronic, radiant and other types of independent heating and/or cooling systems.
